revolve profile
needs two sketches: a profile and an axis . the sketches need to be in the same workplane

start a new design .make a new sketch in the frontal workplane and call it axis . make a second new sketch in the frontal workplane and call it profile

in the axis sketch draw a vertical line from 0,0 to 0,150 . in the profile sketch draw a profile of a chess piece (it must be touching the axis line at the top and the bottom) . use a mixture of straight lines, arcs and splines to make the profile . use a vertical line to join the top to the bottom along the axis

right click on the profile sketch and check the filled option . if the profile does not fill with colour it means it is not closed . it must be closed in order to revolve profile . zoom in and check all lines are joined (the other possibility is that two lines are intersecting or on top of each other)

select the revolve profile tool . the sketch to use as profile should be profile . the sketch to use as axis should be axis . check the add material and above workplane options . set the angle to 360 degrees

save the design . and use save copy as to save a copy . open the copy . right click on the revolve feature in the features browser and select suppress . and select the select lines tool to view the lines . activate the axis sketch and reduce the height of the axis line to 120mm (it makes it easier to select the line on the axis that makes up part of the profile)

activate the profile sketch and view onto workplane . right click on the profile sketch and select select lines . select line / offset chain . set the offset value to -3 to put the offset lines outside the existing lines . delete the two horizontal bottom lines and the two vertical centre lines in the profile sketch (the axis line stays)

draw a line between the two profiles at the top and the bottom to close the profile . keep the top line in line with the axis and use the delete line segment tool to trim the offset profile line .

and unsuppress the revolve feature

open the original chess piece design and use save copy as to make a copy . and open the copy . suppress the revolve feature and use line / offset chain to make a second profile 3mm outside the existing profile . delete the two centre lines and join the profiles at the top and at the bottom on the centre axis . and delete unwanted line segments

right click on the revolve feature and select redefine . set the angle to 180 and select below workplane . and unsuppress the feature
